Estrus Intensity as a Predictor of Pregnancy Success
Research involving Dr. Ky Pohler (2022 Texas A&M) found that as estrus intensity increased—as measured by ESTROTECT™ Breeding Indicator activation—circulating pregnancy-associated glycoprotein (PAG) concentrations also increased. PAGs are produced by the placenta and are associated with pregnancy establishment and maintenance. Breeding when an ESTROTECT™ Breeding Indicator is more than 50% rubbed off can lead to up to a 30% greater likelihood of pregnancy success.
Estrus Expression and Reproductive Outcomes
Other research (Cerri, et al. 2022) has demonstrated a clear relationship between greater estrus expression and improved reproductive outcomes.
